Everything is simple and transparent, even for passengers who came here for the first time, like me.

Upon arrival at the air harbor, I did not have time to see anything. I quickly went through security, got my luggage and took a taxi to the hotel. In the taxi, of course, I was surprised when I heard the person speak Russian!)) A few words about taxis: you should only choose official carriers, because their prices are fixed.

Since the way back was a little delayed, I had plenty of time to climb around the air harbor. I was pleasantly surprised by the presence of:

• children's menus in restaurants;
• baby stroller rental point;
• prayer room;
• photo booths;
• airport history museum.

Here, it turns out, you can even take a tour of the air harbor. But since I found out about the excursion late, I didn’t have time to get on it. It is better to attend the excursion program upon arrival in Prague. In addition to the above services, the airport terminal has many cafes, restaurants, and beer bars. For children there are two playgrounds with toys and swings.

Time flew by at the air gates. Believe it or not, during the 3-hour walk I didn’t even have time to use the daily free Wi-Fi.

What to do if your flight is canceled

If a flight is canceled more than 24 hours before departure, passengers will be transferred to similar airline flights. The carrier bears the costs; the service is free for the passenger. If you are not satisfied with any of the options offered by the airline, most airlines can issue an “involuntary return.” Once confirmed by the airline, the money will be returned to your account. Sometimes this can take several weeks.

How to check in at the airport

Online check-in is available on most airline websites. Most often it opens 23 hours before the start of the flight. You can go through it no later than 1 hour before the plane departs.

• printed itinerary receipt (optional).

• What can you take on a plane?

  Carry-on baggage is the items you will take with you onto the plane. The weight limit for hand luggage can vary from 5 to 10 kg, and its size most often should not exceed the sum of three dimensions (length, width and height) from 115 to 203 cm (depending on the airline). A handbag is not considered hand luggage and is carried freely.

  The bag you take with you on the plane should not contain knives, scissors, medicines, aerosols, or cosmetics. Alcohol from duty free stores can only be transported in sealed bags.

  How to pay for luggage at the airport

  If the weight of luggage exceeds the standards established by the airline (most often 20-23 kg), you need to pay for each kilogram of excess. In addition, many Russian and foreign airlines, as well as low-cost airlines, have tariffs that do not include free baggage allowance and must be paid separately as an additional service.

  In this case, luggage must be checked in at the airport at a separate Drop-off check-in counter. If you are unable to print your boarding pass, you can obtain one at the airline's regular check-in counter, and check-in and check-in your luggage there.

  Where to find out the arrival time if you are a greeter

Previously, this airport was called Ruzyne. Prague airport code: IATA – PRG, ICAO – LKPR. It was first named after the President of Czechoslovakia, then renamed after the President of the Czech Republic. The air hub is located in the north-west of the capital of the Czech Republic. Serves both domestic and international flights. This is the largest airport terminal in Prague and throughout the Czech Republic. Most often, tourists fly here. Average airport per year serves 8-10 million passengers. In 2008, a record figure was recorded - 12 million people.

This air complex was built in 1937 according to the design of the architect A. Bensch. In the same year, on April 5, the first plane landed here. Due to the rapid development of technology and aviation, the need soon arose to expand the territory of the complex. The runway was extended and reconstruction of the building was completed in 1956. A new terminal was built and the terminal area increased to 800 hectares. The northern terminal was also renovated and the runway was reconstructed.

The airport complex operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It consists of four terminals:

1. T1 serves international flights excluding the Schengen area.
2. T2 – passenger flights of the Schengen zone.
3. T3 – charter and private flights.
4. T4 – government and VIP flights.

Terminal 4 also serves air taxis. You can get to the city center by bus. Regular buses No. 119 and 100 run here. They can take you to one of the city metro stations. Tickets are sold at special counters that you will find in the terminal and near the bus stop. The stop is located near terminals 1 and 2. The ride to the nearest metro station is from 15 to 35 minutes. Ticket prices depend on the chosen route and range from 32 to 60 CZK. Senior passengers receive discounts. The cost of such a ticket will be approximately 15 CZK.

If you need to get to Republic Square, you can buy a shuttle ticket. It costs about 150 crowns. The shuttle departs regularly from the arrival terminals from 07:30 to 19:00.

Vaclav Havel Airport

Prague-Kbely

The official name of the airport in Prague is Praha – Kbely. This is a military non-public air hub, which is located in the north-eastern part of the city. Today the 24th aircraft base is located here. It serves the safe flights of government officials.

This air complex almost 100 years. After the First World War, flights began to be served here. It was the first operating airport in the capital of the Czech Republic. Gradually it became the central and main air terminal of Czechoslovakia and remained so until the main airport of today, Ruzyne, was opened. After World War II it was converted into a military one. Today, an aviation museum is located on its territory.

Letnany

The list of Prague airports also includes the Prague Letnany air hub. This is a public air terminal that serves domestic flights. In addition, non-public international flights are served here. About 10 years ago, this complex came under the control of a British company, whose owner decided to preserve this air complex.

Today Letnany is the only air hub in the capital, which can be reached by metro from almost any part of the city. This makes this complex very convenient for flights to other cities of the country and for arrivals to the capital from other regions.

The first termina was built in 1923. Initially, Czechoslovakian aircraft were tested here. In the 60s, residential areas began to be built near the complex. Due to the construction of houses, the runway had to be significantly shortened. In addition, it was even necessary to change the axis of the strip. Information about the possible closure of the airport began to appear in the media. Only in 2007, after the purchase of the air complex by an investment company, work began again on the reconstruction of the runway, the foundation was repaired, etc.

Toczna Airport (does not serve major flights, currently closed)

Accurate

This is a non-public air terminal that serves domestic flights. Located in the southern part of the capital of the Czech Republic. 6 years ago it was closed for renovation work. To this day, this airport does not serve flights. The airport has only one runway, the length of which is 870 m.

Vodochody

This air complex is located 7 km from the capital. It handles a large number of non-public international flights. It mainly serves charter and cargo flights. There is a main runway and an emergency runway on the territory. All of them have special lighting to increase the degree of safety when taking off or landing in the dark.

If you're on a charter flight and the plane lands at this airport, it's worth finding out how to get to the city center. A bus leaves regularly from the terminal. You can use it to get to the Kobylisy metro station, and from there by metro to the center or another area of ​​​​Prague. The ticket costs about 45 CZK. You can also get to the city by taxi. The cost of such a trip is approximately 600 CZK.

Prague Airport is connected to the city center by 3 city bus routes with a standard fare of 24 or 32 Kč (Czech crowns), depending on travel time (30 and 90 minutes, respectively). For other travelers, I would like to note that until recently, using the services of Prague taxi drivers was comparable to the pleasure received from the services of their Russian colleagues. Tax free at Prague airport

When making purchases in the Czech Republic, you can return a value added tax in the amount of 10% to 17% depending on the purchase amount and type of product (for example, for medicines the refund is 15%), if the total amount of purchases is in one receipt from one store (receipts not cumulative) amounted to 2001 Czech, the store participates in the “Tax Free Shopping” program (this is indicated by a sign on the store doors), and you asked the seller in the store to fill out a special “Tax Free Form Vat Refund” form before paying for the purchase. Please note that VAT is not refundable for food and drinks! Refunds are made upon crossing the border of the European Union, that is, in our case, at Prague International Airport.

With your completed Tax Free Form in Latin letters, your passport, plane ticket and unused purchases, go to the Tax Refund / Customs counter in Terminal 1 of Prague Airport. You can see how to fill out the “Tax Free Form Vat Refunde” form. The customs officer may ask to see the goods you purchased and your plane ticket, and then stamp your form. After this procedure, go with your passport and form to receive money at the VAT refund kiosk (Tax Free). Two kiosks are located here in Terminal 1, just 20 meters from the Customs counter.

Money can be received in any currency (Kč or €) in cash or by transfer to a bank card. In my opinion, it is more reliable to receive cash in Czech crowns, since in this case, firstly, you will not lose on the exchange rate of the Czech crown to the euro, and secondly, you will not have to enter into long and unpredictable correspondence with the Global Blue company » regarding the lack of VAT refund on your card.

If you cross the border at night, when the VAT refund kiosks are not working (opening hours: 07:00 - 22:30), then the money will be returned to you within 6 months in a Russian bank (if there is a customs stamp on the form, which works at the airport around the clock! ), which, under an agreement with companies"Global Blue" or "Premier Tax Free"provides this service. Nature reserve "Divoká Šárka" (Wild Sharka)

Divoka Sarka is the largest nature reserve in Prague, which is located in the capital's Liboc district, on the rocky slopes of the Sarka stream between the Dzban reservoir and the Devil's Mill. The total territory of the natural park is more than 25 hectares.

The asphalt path of the rocky canyon along the Šárka stream is a great walk at any time of the year, and in the summer you will find the natural swimming pool “Divoká Šárka” and several open-air cafes of the Prague nature reserve.
