Trip: August 2013

We traveled as a family of 4 (me, my husband and two daughters), and took one family room. We were checked into a bungalow. The room is large, it has one double bed and two single beds. Everything is very convenient, cleaned every day. The balcony overlooked the bushes, behind which there was an abandoned hotel. This view didn’t bother me at all - on the contrary, I could dream. The food is excellent. Delicious Champagne in the morning. The variety of meat and fish dishes was very pleasing. There were no particularly exotic fruits, but cherries, watermelons and melons were always there. I really liked the service of the waiters - they didn’t ask for tips at all, they behaved very dignified, but at the same time they were very nimble. Every day there was such variety in the main restaurant that we didn’t even sign up for dinner at the themed restaurants - they were always practically empty. We didn’t like the animation in German, since our teenage children had already outgrown such entertainment, and the shows shown by the animators were rather unprofessional. There was one evening of Greek culture. That was impressive. All the loud Germans left the theater and the Greeks sang and danced in a very homely atmosphere. I really liked the sea, although there were large stones at the bottom. There were huge waves for several days, but for us it was just a joy to jump and dive. There were free sun loungers on the beach at any time, since there were four of us, sometimes we just had to drag the missing ones from another place. At the beach bar we drank delicious coffee and cocktails, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Everything is free. We recommend going to the Water City water park. It is huge, modern, with attractions for every taste. We took a VIP excursion by minibus (120 euros per person), with a guide we were taken to the Knossos Palace, the nunnery and the Cave of Zeus. The guide told everything very interestingly. If we had gone on our own, the impression would hardly have been so positive. At the end of the excursion we ate at a local tavern, tasty and inexpensive. The view of the pipes on the beach was not depressing; we did not smell the smell that is written about here. The only thing that was inconvenient was the fact that we had to check out of our room at 12:00 and our plane was leaving at night. A few days before departure, we went to the reception to renew our room in advance, but they refused, saying that we could do this on the last day. But on the last day we were refused. We checked out, and we could continue to use all the benefits of the hotel by putting our suitcases in a storage room. We were also told that we could take the keys to a free room for half an hour so that we could wash ourselves there in the evening and get ourselves in order. There were several families like us, homeless. Therefore, we sat in line after the beach and waited for these treasured keys. Accordingly, we were very surprised when we received the keys to our room - they kicked us out, and no one was accommodated there. But I still really enjoyed the holiday.

Trip: July 2012

A hotel with a small but beautiful area, a wide sandy beach and an excellent SPA center. Conveniently located in the village of Amudara. The food is excellent. There is a thermal power plant within sight of the hotel, but this does not interfere with your vacation. I recommend the hotel to families with children, elderly couples and companies. There are playgrounds and water slides. Own beach, nearby. The sea was 25-26 degrees. (15.07.) The animation is so-so, the performances are mainly in German. For children there is a group of Russian-speaking animators. The staff is polite, but few speak Russian. There is a small shop on site. It is very common in this hotel to pay extra for room extension on the last day of departure, because... Check-out from the room is at 12-00 o'clock, and the plane is at 24-00 o'clock, so you have to pay, or sit on the street with your things. Well, in general, not bad! Have a nice holiday everyone!

Trip: June 2012

The three of us had a rest: my husband, me and my 10-year-old daughter. We arrived early in the morning and were told to stay until 11 o'clock, but we checked in at 9:00. We took a family room with two bedrooms, we didn’t catch any stars from the sky, we got what we expected... The furniture and rooms are not new, but clean, nothing unnecessary. One strange thing is that there is no lock in the toilet... The linen was changed every other day, the towels apparently depend on the mood, sometimes every day, and sometimes every other day... The safe costs about 3 euros per day. The food is good, the drinks are high quality... champagne for breakfast. Ice cream is unlimited and completely edible. There are a lot of fruits. Fish and meat every day. The food is without culinary delights, but tasty and satisfying. The beach is small pebbles, but it doesn’t hurt your feet; a meter after entering the sea the stone is large and flat. You can walk on it; it is covered with fine sand and overgrown with algae. The animation is so-so, the performances are mostly in German. For children there is a group of Russian-speaking animators. The staff is polite, but few speak Russian. Across the fence is an abandoned hotel. After the abandoned thermal power plant hotel. Although only one of the 7 chimneys smoked, it was still not comfortable, but on the other hand, it was an excellent landmark for those who choose an active holiday, rent a car and drive around the island all day.
That's what we did... we took one excursion to the Palace of Knossos (the most important attraction of the island), and saw the rest on our own. There are two water parks on the island, Aqua Plus and Water City, the first is old and pretty shabby, the second is fresh and well-groomed. The maps are also an ambush; some of the signs are either missing or hidden behind oleander thickets; we missed the required turn several times...

Trip: May 2012

We were placed in this hotel because... ours was not ready, the room was given in the central building, clean, comfortable, the furniture was good, they cleaned it every day (no tips were taken), varied food (especially meat), high-quality alcohol. The hotel is designed for a quiet, relaxing holiday, we didn’t see any downs, no cobwebs (maybe we just weren’t interested in that), the area was clean - they cleaned it every morning. There is no animation, because the hotel is designed for families. We had a clean break from the hustle and bustle, from the noise, enjoyed the sea and the sun, and visited many interesting places ourselves. The sea was 20-22 degrees. (13.05.). People are different. Some people go with a magnifying glass to look for wealth, while others just to relax, because you can find positive things everywhere!!! Have a nice holiday!

Trip: September 2011

There were three of us on vacation, they gave us a room across the street, after convincing requests they changed it to one near the pool (very convenient, across the road it’s very inconvenient). The food is high quality, varied, the pool with sea water is good, the beach is not very good, there is an entrance to the sea with stones (be careful, especially if the sea is not calm and the bottom is not visible), there is also sand. The rooms were cleaned every day, if you threw towels on the floor, linen was changed every other day. The sea is quite cool, because there is a mountain river flowing nearby. The area is excellent, green. In the evening there are many places outside where you can sit quietly. The guide at the hotel Irina is not very good, we didn’t buy excursions, she had an appropriate attitude (but for the sake of fairness, she helped me change the room). The excursions are very expensive and not worth it, it’s better to rent a car, not far from the hotel, everything is fair, no deposits, no copies of credit cards, they speak Russian, cheap, but there is no automatic car, a navigator is not required, if you don’t be stupid Everything is very simple, there are signs everywhere, there is enough map. The big minus for me is that they didn’t extend the room (we were flying out at night), they said it wasn’t possible, although our room was empty before we left, they didn’t earn 60 euros, we got inconvenience, it’s unclear. You don’t take off your bracelets until you leave, you use everything. The spa is expensive, didn't go. In general, a solid four.

Trip: August 2011

We just recently returned from vacation. I liked everything very much. We lived in bungalows, which many here consider a reservation for Russians, but this is not at all true - both Germans and Italians are accommodated there. The rooms are quite decent, new plumbing, cleaned decently. And very close to the SPA, we went - it was great! The food is excellent, very varied. There was no strength to try everything that was offered. The power plant's pipes were strained at first (by sight), then they were simply forgotten about. Perhaps there was one minus - a choppy sea, but this is compensated by an excellent large pool with sea water, and it’s always great to jump on the waves. There are pebbles, so it's better to wear slippers. Not a single hedgehog was seen. Their children's club is praised, but we never made it there. I can’t say anything bad about the guide “Le Grand” Andrey, only good things. He specifically helped his friends solve their problem. And, in my opinion, he shouldn’t babysit us like children. We went on an excursion from a tour operator to the Palace of Knossos. It's not stressful, but very educational. The guide is excellent, I don’t recommend going without a guide, the impressions won’t be the same. Of course, there are copies of ancient frescoes, but the impression remains. And the originals can then be viewed in the Heraklion Archaeological Museum. A river flows not far from the hotel and it’s a whole show for children: geese, ducks, turtles, even rats and a huge amount of trout!!! and TERRIBLY skinny cats! We got there late and spent the rest of the time feeding these cats (this is not on the hotel premises). And on the day of departure we saw one black swan, before that they flew as a couple over the beach. We still don’t know what happened, but he didn’t eat anything with an abundance of thrown bread and then completely swam away in the other direction, where there are no people or birds... The hotel is international, so you definitely feel better if you know English, you can do it without any problems communicate. There are few Russian speaking staff. Greeks are very friendly people. We visited Heraklion several times and wandered its streets. In general, in my opinion, more positivity is needed. You can ruin your vacation with any nonsense. Greece is a beautiful country, I dream of returning there again!

Trip: July 2011

We vacationed with children in July. High season - lottery; the places announced by the tour operator may not live up to the promises, but we were lucky in this regard, the room was really spacious, 29 m. Maybe my knowledge of the English language played a role, or maybe for 3-bed accommodation you can’t offer poor places in a bungalow, as is most often offered to our compatriots traveling together. Room cleaning is acceptable, if you leave a tip, you forget, or don’t have time - then it’s a “3”. The food in the restaurant was also excellent. This is where the "+" ends.
The hotel is located on the outskirts of the village of Amudara, an industrial zone, next to the hotel there are abandoned buildings, the view from the sea is depressing when you swim, almost a few meters from the hotel, almost on the territory itself - thermal power plant pipes! If there is no wind, the smell is appropriate. The area around the hotel is very nasty - only the hotel area itself has been cleaned, it’s better not to turn your head outside the fence... The cold current and stones in the sea have already been mentioned in previous reviews.
The guide Andrey deserves special attention and his attitude towards his work and his clients, from whom he feeds. In a restaurant, someone may pass by, looking right through you; it is not at all necessary to say hello; but this is the level of his culture and communication, let it remain on his conscience.
A child suffered a head injury in the pool; the reason is the sharp edges of the steps in the pool, the lack of a rubberized coating. There were no medical staff at the hotel. “Day off” - day off; The guide's phone does not answer, the insurance company has an answering machine, since the day of the week is Sunday, the receptionist answered: contact the insurance company of your country, they will provide assistance. It’s good that I’m a doctor myself, and I know what to do in such situations, and the injury was without a concussion.
As a result, the guide responded to the SMS message after 2 hours, the “doctor” he promised called back after another 2 hours. A local, if I may say so, “doctor”, with poor knowledge of English - he explained himself to me in pantomime - arrived after 4 hours 15 minutes. after a child suffered a head injury. Somewhat stitches were applied without anesthesia (insurance, as the Greek doctor tried to explain to me, does not provide such).
The guide did not even inquire about the child’s condition and whether help was provided after he was very late in notifying the doctor about what had happened. A case of gross negligence, it looks like the man was minding his own business.
Bottom line: for the sake of a good vacation, you should take the trouble and look for a more worthy place, I don’t recommend it.

Trip: July 2011

The hotel is not worthy of five stars, but everything is in order.. The rooms are very small, the air conditioning barely breathes, there is no soundproofing or ventilation in the bathroom! The entrance to the sea is ugly (rocks), and on the first day I injured my leg, which is quite unpleasant. Well, a mountain river flowing not far away creates far from pleasant sensations when swimming, although not always. It all depends on the direction of the current. Due to this nuance, we couldn’t even go into the sea for about three days out of two weeks of vacation. (sorry) I am writing about the negative first of all because... The room and the sea are our priority positions on vacation. Otherwise, everyone was well fed for slaughter, a wonderful children's club, from which “you can’t pull a child out by the ears.” There is a village not far away, where you can take a bus and visit local taverns and shops, and just take a walk in the evening for a change. There is also the Corfour shopping center, where you can buy aged Greek wine that tastes noticeably different from what is served at the hotel. The hotel staff is trying their best and you won’t see “flashing eyes” and “sudden movements” in restaurants and “harassment” and “imposing anything” on beaches and in shops. Wonderful SPA center, if you have the opportunity, go! In a mountain river there live two absolutely tame swans, we went to feed them almost every day, they eat straight from our hands! Next time we will go on vacation only to Greece, but before we go, I will be more careful about choosing a hotel! P.S. The pipes of a heating station are also not a very pleasant sight on vacation...

Trip: July 2011

I purchased a vacation in Greece on the island of Crete, from July 3 to July 10, 2011, in a 5-star hotel - APOLLONIA BEACH RESORT & SPA, in new bungalows, accommodation in a Superior room/DBL-29 sq.m., meals AL , with high-quality service, a good sandy beach, a very green area, surrounded by citrus and green trees, with a wonderful surrounding area for walking.
Upon arriving at a wonderful place to relax and celebrate my partner's 30th birthday, the fun began. Approaching the territory on the bus, as it turned out later than our hotel, it was quite creepy, some kind of industrial zone, with huge abandoned areas of land, next to an abandoned hotel, opposite the entrance to the hotel territory, something far reminiscent of a bus stop, long-closed stalls with broken glass and painted walls, dirt, garbage all around, heaps of leaves mixed with garbage, in general a feeling of “bombing”. What happened next was more interesting: after getting off the bus, we went to the hotel lobby to register. Having filled out all the documents, we were given a card for the room and pointed with a finger in the direction of the journey, since the metro d’hotel, as we later realized, did not speak either Russian or English. We tried to find out who would guide us and help us convey difficult things, tired of fighting misunderstandings, we went to look for our number ourselves. While we were looking for a room, we were simply horrified by the old bungalow buildings, the plaster falling off it, the dirt and lack of maintenance of the hotel, when we entered the room we were even more horrified: a room of 15 sq.m., dirty curtains, fallen plaster, dust on the furniture, a collapsed balcony, cobwebs all around , a “stunning” view of the same crumbling bungalow, reeds and all this in terrible dirt and cobwebs. We paid money twice to change our room, but what we were offered was no better. All these “new” bungalows are the same, after which we had to temporarily stay in the original room, because... our guide wasn't supposed to arrive until the evening. Based on the results of the meeting, it turned out that the conditions in the rooms in the main building are more acceptable, but we cannot check into them, because... as they explained to us: the tour operator pays only for the cheapest rooms, number 7...” Before meeting with the guide, we walked around the hotel grounds: we were struck by the amount of dirt lying around in the recreation area, plastic cups, empty bottles, some kind of garbage, the smell of sewage, dirty additional pools (they simply are not cleaned), dirty and long-worn furniture (dirty furniture in the hotel lobby, all cut up and simply worn out), the pool bar resembled an abandoned cafe: there was dust and cobwebs all around, a beach with a stunning view of the nearby thermal power plant with a pipe going out into the sea (to the hotel beach area) further confirmed the hotel’s 5* category.
04.07.11 At the meeting with the guide, we tried to change the hotel, because... The tour operator explained that this issue is not within his competence, so we must resolve this issue independently with a representative of the welcoming party Le Grand-Kulev Andrey. It was not possible to resolve this issue; according to Andrey, the hotel imposed a fine for changing the hotel - 100%, so we were referred to a tour operator. Thus, for three days we became hostages between tour companies, until 07/05/11. There were constant telephone conversations and SMS correspondence with Krasnodar and Greece, for which a lot of money was spent on cellular communications. 07/05/11 we already asked the guide to find out what dates there was a flight to Krasnodar, since it was unbearable to be in this “HELL”, but the guide said that the tickets would not be exchanged for us, so we would also need to pay for them ourselves, moreover, tickets for the only the plane on July 5, it didn’t turn out. During constant negotiations, we even tried to leave the hotel in order to see at least something pleasant on this island and in this situation... but the territory adjacent to the hotel for several kilometers is practically abandoned, there are no shops or other signs of civilization. We found the first cafes, etc. only after about 5 km…….. A registered complaint was submitted to the representative of Le Grand, describing the non-compliance of the paid tour product with the stated characteristics; an entry with a complaint was also made in the hotel’s guest book.
In the evening of 07/05/11 the guide suggested we move to the Gregotel hotel chain, but for an additional fee of min 166 euros per day, this includes meals: breakfast-dinner, all drinks, including min. water is paid. This was the minimum price offer among those proposed. Representatives of the Tour Operator said that there would be no cheaper offers, so we had to 07/05/11. pay 830 euros in order to meet my companion’s birthday on July 7 in “human conditions”, since I no longer had enough strength and nerves to deal with the constant indifference on the part of the tour operator and my own powerlessness in a foreign country.
07/06/11 At about 12-00 we moved to the Gregotel el Greco hotel, category 4 stars - a clean and comfortable hotel, polite and helpful staff. And these 4 stars, compared to the hotel offered to us, are simply “PARADISE”. Thus, out of 7 days of the long-awaited vacation, three were completely ruined and only 4 days remained to learn at least something about Greece.

This is the hotel where I rested, this is the room in which I slept. And the tour was from the Labyrinth, and the host was Le Grand. There is a large garden and two swimming pools. Swimming pool with and without slides....More ▾ This is the hotel where I vacationed, this is the room in which I slept. And the tour was from the Labyrinth, and the host was Le Grand.
There is a large garden and two swimming pools. Swimming pool with and without slides. The beach is pebble with wooden bridges.
Although I didn’t stay here for long, it’s good here.
Hotel Apolonia Beach 5 is located…. (you can read all this in the description and any travel agency will also read and tell you).
Let's talk about people, though without names. I have a bad memory for names.
An employee of the Labyrinth (or Le Grand?), who is on duty at the hotel and helps arriving Russian tourists. Very competent, serious. He talks well about excursions and the area in general. Solves problems with check-in or, God forbid, with the doctor, if they arise.
At the reception desk there are two young ladies and one man. One of the young ladies with white hair is working. A bit uneducated. I didn’t like some of the questions that seemed quite appropriate. It's none of her business. I prefer dark ones. She seemed friendlier and overall better. It was a pleasure to communicate with her, in the sense of addressing any questions that arose. For example, a laptop cable. Although I shouldn't have taken it. There is poor internet in the room. If you need the Internet, you need to go to the lobby to sit. The hall is spacious, you can even dance. There are also cozy corners, for example, there is one with a fireplace.
The lady in the store speaks a little Russian, prefers English. Very nice woman, I bought myself some jewelry there. I also wanted to buy it, but spent the rest of the money on a spa.
At the spa, the woman sat as the secretary by herself. With a view, you need to choose services, and I will do you a favor and say something if you have any questions.
The manicurist is Greek and a wonderful person. A professional in his field. Does everything right. It's a pleasure to see a person who knows his business. These are rare.
The animator is a girl who runs a fitness center. Another guy who knows what he's doing. Helps you get yourself in order and understand what kind of workload is needed for everyone.
Animators - a couple of girls and one young man in the children's area. It feels like their childhood is at play. These are what you need to work with children. Light and mobile.
The animators - two young people by the pool in the bar - conduct animation in different languages, conduct games, lotto... They are a little rude, but they also work well.
And among the indescribable there remained a restaurant. The waiters are unnoticeable, so what about the food. The food is good. A little salty for my bland taste. But you can’t please everyone?! As usual in hotels there is a buffet. Various breads, yoghurts, pasta, rice…. Etc.
A few words about the sea. The sea is normal. Small pebbles on the beach. There are sunbeds and umbrellas.
Now everything seems to be done. If anything, please contact me, I know, I’ll tell you.
I wish you new experiences and a good healthy holiday!
