Holiday destinations for children in Montenegro. Montenegro. How we prepared for the trip

Hello, friends.

Today I will tell you about resorts in Montenegro for families with children.

We will indicate the best resorts in Montenegro and places to which you probably shouldn’t go.

Spring in Montenegro 2017

We lived in Montenegro with our children for a total of 5 months. This time was enough for us to get some idea of the country and its cities.
Everything written below is based solely on our experience of living in this country and on our personal tastes.

Over the 5 months of our life, we were more or less thoroughly able to explore three resorts in Montenegro: Budva, Bar, Herceg Novi. It was in these cities that we lived in the spring and summer of 2017. These same cities are the largest on the coast of Montenegro and therefore they are often considered by tourists for recreation.

I asked my husband where out of all the cities he would stay to live longer and he, without hesitation, said Herceg Novi. This is an emotion. And I have the same one.
But if we included logic and common sense, the answer would probably be different.

Budva.

The city is the most touristy and this is its strength/weakness. It’s terrible here during the season, but at the same time, there is a lot for life and convenience here. Restaurants, shops, market, playgrounds, library (Russian), bus station. All this is within walking distance and can be reached without any problems by a mother with children. There is a small park, accessible Old Town.
The embankment is narrow and not very long, but you can always go to Becici and further. Plus, it is from Budva that it is most convenient to travel throughout the country and explore it.

Empty spring Budva

For me personally, it was Budva that became the most convenient place on the coast to live. But I repeat, and this is the main thing - in the off season.
During the high season, there is nowhere to sit on the beach, prices skyrocket, and service is low. It was already not comfortable to walk on the embankment at the beginning of June. In the summer there is music, noise, discos and all the ensuing joys of young people's lives.

The influx of tourists begins after May 25, although the season in Montenegro officially starts on June 21. But already from the end of spring we suddenly felt how many people there were everywhere in the city.

The views from the beaches of Budva are crazy)

Bar.

The most controversial city in our opinion. Despite the presence of certain advantages, it did not hook us and left us with an ambivalent feeling. A friend of ours, who has been living in Montenegro for many years, said this very well about the Bar: “The Bar is ideal for a long life without showing off.” And this is the most correct definition.

View of the city of Bar from the water

There is everything for a long life here. Schools, clubs, parties, shops and the necessary infrastructure. Plus everything is cheaper than in other resorts in Montenegro. Well, the city doesn’t die out in the winter.

But the place itself... I don’t even know how to label it correctly. I would say that this is not standard Montenegro at all, and it is here that its non-European part is most felt. Perhaps the fact that the border with Muslim Albania is very close played a role.

Beach of the city of Bar in Montenegro

For us, the Bar turned out to be such a local “scoop”. While relaxing in Bar and its immediate surroundings, you will not understand or see Montenegro. This is purely my opinion based on living in Bar for two months.

One of the advantages of the city of Bar is its wide embankment

Another controversial comrade. But here there is a downside. Emotionally, this is where we liked it the most. Although it was here that my son was sick, and we lived the least, and the apartment was average. But the city was hooked, yes. At the same time, I am of the opinion that it is not the most convenient for living with children.

Herceg Novi is our favorite in Montenegro)

Lots of steps and slides make life very difficult. There are few children's activities/playgrounds in the city. Herceg Novi is located not conveniently in my opinion (a little out of the way). But here, right away, is the border with Croatia and the beautiful Dubrovnik.
The beaches are average (many pantons, few good pieces). And those parts that are available during the season are also crowded.

One of the beaches of Herceg Novi in September

But at the same time it has its own charm and atmosphere. Plus, this is where it felt like there were the most foreigners and there was also a long embankment for walking (7 km). And we love this business.

The embankment in Herceg Novi is 10 points

It would also be fair to note that during the peak season (July and August) there will still be fewer people here than in Budva, for example, because the resort is not yet so promoted and popular.

Herceg Novi captivated us with its atmosphere)

Answering the question, which city would I choose for living and relaxing, I would answer that with my heart is Herceg Novi, and with my mind is Budva. But again, this greatly depends on the season, duration and wishes of a particular person. Montenegro is all very beautiful and interesting and the choice should be made only based on your personal feelings and requirements)

A three-hour flight to your destination, that’s how long it will take a flight from Moscow to the resort of Montenegro. There is a clear sea here, an incredible amount of greenery, generating clean air. Local residents are great with children, many understand Russian. There is a reason to go to Montenegro to relax with children on the gentle coast of the Adriatic Sea.

Sea resorts in Montenegro for children

When deciding where to go to Montenegro with a child, keep in mind that this is a very compact state and it only takes a day to cross it by car. All parts of the country have beautiful nature, almost the entire coastline is accessible to children, and adults can enjoy the relaxation and pleasant atmosphere of coastal towns and villages.

Tourists visiting the resorts of Montenegro have chosen a dozen seaside towns for their holidays, which are annually filled with families with children who want to have a pleasant and inexpensive holiday in a hospitable country. Among the resorts, Budva leads the way, attracting with beaches suitable for children, interesting architecture of narrow streets and a variety of entertainment.

Nearby is the brightest point of Montenegro - the island of Sveti Stefan with fashionable hotels and beaches. Petrovac and Rafailovici are popular holiday destinations for families, and Sutomore is especially popular with children.

The region is suitable for children of any age; neither kids nor teenagers will be bored, because Montenegro has a wide variety of entertainment for children. Five beaches and attractions are available for families to relax on. The downsides are crowded conditions, night noise and high prices.

Tivat has a developed infrastructure in terms of transport, it is the air gateway of the country, and beach recreation. The region is popular due to its child-friendly microclimate.

Parents choosing where to spend their children's holidays in Montenegro bring here their children who do not want to travel for a long time in transport. The resort is not popular among vacationers; the main beachgoers will be local residents. You can relax without crowds, but it’s worth bringing small children here; older ones will be bored. Parents with strollers will appreciate the convenient embankment.

For beautiful nature, you can go to the shores of the Hercegnovskaya Riviera, renting accommodation in one of the tiny quiet towns. This part of Montenegro is the sunniest; children who come on vacation improve their health at mineral springs or undergo mud therapy.

Vacationers who want to relax in Montenegro with older children who do not require special conditions come here. The region is not spoiled with family hotels, but the prices here are more pleasant than at popular resorts. Teenagers will be happy to join their parents on excursions to interesting places in the Bay of Kotor.

Various beaches of Montenegro

According to local legislation, absolutely all beaches in Montenegro are accessible to citizens and tourists who come on vacation. Even the tenants are not entitled to charge; they can only rent out a trestle bed and an umbrella to the family.

Even if the cunning businessman did not leave a free grain of sand not occupied by his sunbed, there will still be a free passage to the water. Although, according to the law of Montenegro, he is allowed to install only half of the beach with rental equipment, leaving room for rest on his mats.

However, parents complain about a violation of the law of Montenegro, the inability to get to swimming places in the Sveti Stefan area. The region's most beautiful beaches are located there, but tenants are forced to pay for a sunbed. A small part of the coast of the Bay of Kotor is built up with fences that come close to the water.

You can sunbathe on the coast of Budva, Petrovac or Rafailovici with children in June; this is the least busy month of the entire beach season in Montenegro. In August, these resorts are sold out and families come in large numbers to vacation.

Children's holidays by the sea are associated with sand, but sandy beaches are rare in a mountainous country. The only natural sandy coast in Montenegro is in the south; you need to go to the Ulcinj area. There will be two beaches: Velika Plazha - a multi-kilometer strip of healing sand mixed with basalt, Mala Plazha - another good place to relax.

The rest of the beaches are pebbly; there are places with imported sand. For example, the hotel beaches of Mogren, near Budva, are filled with fresh sand every year to the delight of vacationers in this region of Montenegro. There are many concrete beaches, but it is better not to go there with small children.

The best beaches in Montenegro, according to tourists, are located in the area of Sveti Stefan Island. They are carefully monitored, there is good infrastructure, clean water, and a beautiful view of the island itself. The coastal area of the Becici resort, suitable for children vacationing in Montenegro, is marked with a blue flag.

Adriatic hospitality schedule

When deciding on the dates of your vacation, you need to take into account that the climate here is Mediterranean, with many sunny days. And the vagaries of the weather are dictated by the mountain landscape; high peaks do not allow heavy clouds to pass through. It rains in the mountains and in nearby resorts. And the neighboring village, protected by a ridge, is bathed in the rays of the sun at this time.

In Montenegro, summer is traditionally hot, the thermometer sharply increases the height of the column in the midst of children's holidays and holidays. In July and the first half of August, numbers from +30 to +32 will be displayed on beach information boards for vacationers.

The optimal time to visit Montenegro with children starts from the end of May - beginning of June. The water temperature depends on the resort: the Bay of Kotor warms up first, but the summer here is the hottest; older children will enjoy the warm sea in Budva, Tivat, and Podgorica. Usually at this time the water reaches 23 degrees, the air is three to four degrees higher.

De facto, schoolchildren will have June and the end of August to come on vacation in good weather and have time to return to school time. The season starts on June 10 and ends on August 30. The period from July 15 to August 25 is the hottest and most crowded with tourists. Children won't want to spend time on a full beach without being able to play. And the price tag for a vacation at this time cannot be called humane.

September, its first two decades, is good for going on vacation with very young children, the temperature is acceptable, parents can still go swimming. A bonus will be local seasonal fruits growing in heaps on vendors’ trays and shop windows.

October is an ambiguous time for the Montenegrin Riviera, similar to a lottery. Sometimes you can swim in early November, but sometimes in mid-September bad weather spoils the children’s holiday.

How to choose housing here

The tourist country offers a choice of quite affordable accommodation. It is especially important to choose a family hotel when staying with children for a long period of time. Montenegro is already a favorite among parents; many have looked for comfortable housing for themselves with an eye to several years. Reservations for the summer can be resolved at the end of winter.

Hotels in Montenegro specifically designed for families with children are not yet very common, but work in this direction is underway. At the moment, you can choose between expensive hotels, mid-range city hotels, and the private sector (apartments with all the trimmings).

Children's hotels in Montenegro with a five-star category are less common than those marked with three stars. In Budva, a four-star hotel with a private water park welcomes children on holiday, and on the island of Sveti Stefan there is a five-star hotel that has equipped a long beach with pink sand for families.

Three-star hotels provide vacationers in Montenegro with rooms with a kitchen; this is convenient for parents who prefer to feed their children home-cooked food. Food issues on vacation are resolved without problems; the all-inclusive system is not widespread in the country; more often hoteliers offer half board or breakfast only.

If hotels in Montenegro are not attractive, but your budget allows you to rent good accommodation, pay attention to Mediterranean-style villas. These are houses on three or four floors, surrounded by a shady garden, allowing children to play outside even in the heat. There are cozy terraces for relaxation; there will be a playground and a swimming pool on the territory.

In tourist Montenegro, children can relax in equipped campsites right on the coast. But the most popular among our tourists in Montenegro are inexpensive apartments.

We are going to Montenegro with the little ones

When looking for the best place to vacation with young children, parents often stop at resorts in Montenegro. An important factor for making a decision is the visa-free regime; the child may get sick before the trip, and the money spent on the stamp will not be returned.

The second factor is a pleasant climate suitable for small children. You just need to go on vacation with your kids in May or already come to the beaches that are unloaded with vacationers in September.

The third factor is Russian-speaking staff and the opportunity to receive services under medical insurance. Young children travel to Montenegro for a long time, so a specialist should be as close as possible. This also includes the absence of a language problem.

Moving with a small child can be a hassle, but if possible, book two accommodations and split your holiday between different resorts. By resorting to this trick, parents will not get bored in one place in Montenegro, changing the environment twice during their vacation.

If you are planning Montenegro with babies or toddlers, it is better to choose an apartment with a washing machine, a bathroom (the shower is not so convenient for bathing a child) and a full kitchen. This way, parents will not be tied to the hotel rules, and they will be able to relax more freely. If necessary, you can wash and iron clothes or prepare food for your baby.

If your budget allows, and you are not planning trips around Montenegro or outside the country, you can stay in a family hotel, asking for a crib for your baby, using the services of a nanny. You can negotiate special meals with the chefs.

Luxurious Montenegro invites children to relax and improve their health on the best beaches of the Adriatic Sea, and spend time with parents or relatives. Leave with the best memories of a beautiful country and the desire to return to an amazing hospitable country

The romantic poet Lord George Byron wrote about Montenegro: “At the moment of the birth of our planet, the most beautiful of the meetings of land and sea took place in Montenegro... When the pearls of nature were sown, a whole handful fell on this land...”

UNESCO gave its definition of the beauty of the country, calling the Durmitor massif “a natural phenomenon of exceptional beauty and aesthetic importance.” What can we add to this?

Only that a family holiday in Montenegro means relaxing on the shores of the warm and surprisingly clear Adriatic Sea, walking through old towns, picnics in the fresh air and complete serenity.

Yes, in terms of respectability the country is still inferior to Greece, Italy, even Bulgaria, but in terms of cordiality and hospitality - not at all. Find out from our article why holidays with children in Montenegro bring so much pleasure.

Where is Montenegro

Montenegro is a state in South-Eastern Europe, in the western part of the Balkan Peninsula. Montenegro borders on Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the northwest, Serbia in the northeast, Kosovo in the east, and Albania in the southeast. The southwestern coast of the country is washed by the Adriatic Sea.

The country became a candidate member of the European Union in 2010, but is not part of the Schengen area. Citizens of Russia, Ukraine and other countries do not need a visa to travel to Montenegro.

Vacation with children

Montenegro - one of the most environmentally friendly countries in the world with a mild Mediterranean climate, it is therefore not surprising that almost any resort is a resort with many children.

You can come here with an infant to breathe in the sea air, and with older children who are ready to alternate between sun and sea baths. There are no poisonous creatures living in the Adriatic Sea, so swimming in the shallow waters is pleasant and safe.

Holidays in Montenegro with children also provide excellent opportunities for travel and sightseeing. Thanks to the small size of the country, you can visit all the interesting places during your vacation (especially if you travel by car).

The natural diversity of Montenegro is impressive: Adriatic beaches, Bay of Kotor, Lake Skadar, Durmitor National Park, Tara River Canyon. How do you like the idea of offering a teenager not extreme rides in an amusement park, but natural extreme sports - or windsurfing?

Often important factors in favor of a holiday in Montenegro for our compatriots are the visa-free regime, as well as a wide selection of budget accommodation options (this mainly applies to the private sector).

But let’s be completely objective: the resorts of Montenegro also have disadvantages. For example, during the high season (July-August) many beaches are overcrowded, which certainly affects the quality and comfort of your holiday.

At the resorts of Montenegro there is not yet as much entertainment for children as we would like, so it doesn’t hurt to take your favorite toys, books, coloring books with you on vacation - something that will help keep your child occupied.

In addition, those families who have already managed to relax with their children at European seaside resorts are disappointed with the tourism infrastructure of Montenegro.

But in recent years, there has been some revival in this area: modern hotels and villas are appearing on the map of tourist cities, supermarkets are being built near resort towns, and beaches are being developed.

Another disadvantage is that Montenegrins smoke a lot and everywhere, despite the law banning smoking in public places. Sometimes this creates inconvenience when relaxing on the beach or having lunch at a national restaurant.

Many shortcomings are made up for by the hospitality of Montenegrins. Local residents are always ready to help and do so sincerely. This atmosphere is an integral part of a good holiday in Montenegro with children.

When is the best time to go?

The tourist season in Montenegro never seems to stop. In summer people come here to sunbathe on the seashore, in spring and autumn to walk around old towns or go hiking in the mountains, and in winter to go skiing.

However, there is a period when the demand for housing reaches its maximum, and with increased demand, prices also rise. Of course, the rush occurs in the summer months, that is, during school holidays and vacations.

On the one hand, the weather in summer is favorable for a beach holiday, on the other hand, overcrowding of beaches and high prices can spoil the pleasure. How to get around this inconvenience?

We recommend choosing May or September for a holiday with a child.

In May, the beach season is just opening, so there are relatively few vacationers - this is a good time to travel with a baby to Montenegro. And in September, tourists leave, and one can only envy those who relax on the Adriatic coast during the velvet season.

September is also ideal because the sea at the beginning of autumn is very warm, while in May few dare to swim. The swimming season in Montenegro starts only in mid-June, but it lasts until the end of September.

And again, praise for September: if you are deciding when is the best time to go to Montenegro to see the country, choose the beginning of autumn. Clear weather without rain lasts until October - take advantage of this time to visit the country's attractions.

Weather and climate

How not to worry about the weather if you are planning a vacation at sea? You just need to choose the right time to travel. In Mediterranean countries, summer begins early, and the holiday season in Montenegro starts in May.

The air temperature in the last month of spring rises to +22° C, the days are sunny, and after short rains it is so easy to breathe. However, not everyone is in a hurry to come to the resorts for the opening of the season, because the sea in the spring is still very cold for children to swim.

In June the heat increases. The air warms up to +26° C, and this contributes to the sea becoming warmer every day.

July and August are the peak of heat in Montenegrin resorts. Thermometers already rise to +29-30° C in the morning. Don’t let the fresh breeze from the sea deceive you: during these months you can sunbathe only in the morning or evening, you need to use sunscreen and remember to wear hats.

Many people consider the best holiday in Montenegro with children to be in September. The heat is finally subsiding, and the sea, which has warmed up over the summer, is in no hurry to cool down.

The air temperature at the beginning of autumn stays at +26° C, and do not be alarmed if the weather forecast promises cold weather and rain - after which pleasant warmth will soon return.

By mid-October, the air temperature drops to +21° C, and the beaches of Montenegro are empty. The rains begin and will last until mid-April.

Nights on the Adriatic coast are very cold. In May, the air temperature drops to +12° C as soon as the sun drops below the horizon. In June-August the night temperature is +16-18°C, in September +15°C.

But the climate of Montenegro is heterogeneous: when it is hot on the coast, moderate warmth sets in in the mountainous areas, and in winter the seaside resorts do not experience frost at all, while in the mountains the temperature drops to -5-10° C.

The slopes of the Durmitor massif are covered with snow from December to April - and this is an excellent reason to spend your holiday in Montenegro skiing.

Sea water temperature

On a clear day, the sea rolls the sun's reflections on the waves and seems to wink: play with me, take a dip, freshen up. And if the calendar shows July, August or September, dive into the water with confidence: during these months the water temperature in Montenegro is +23-25° C.

But in May, when the sun is hot like summer, the water in the sea is too refreshing - only about +18° C. To open the swimming season, we recommend waiting until the beginning of June, when the sea temperature rises to +21° C.

The sea in Montenegro warms up later and cools down faster than on the islands of Greece or on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey.

The optimal time to swim to your heart's content is July, August and the first half of September. In summer and early autumn, the water temperature is +24-25° C. By the end of September, the water temperature drops to +21° C, and in October it is only +20° C.

Treatment

When choosing which resorts in Montenegro are suitable for families with children, pay attention to the cities where you can combine a beach holiday with wellness.

Thus, the climate of the Hercegnov Riviera is suitable for the treatment of diseases of the upper respiratory tract. Healing mud and mineral water are also extracted here. The region is famous for medical institutes offering treatment programs for adults and children.

The best conditions for the treatment of pulmonary, cardiac, and neurological ailments are in the town of Igalo. Prčanj is known for its asthma-friendly air.

Nutrition

Montenegrin hotels, with rare exceptions, do not operate on an all-inclusive basis. Therefore, tourists have two ways to organize meals - eat in restaurants or prepare food themselves.

Among the restaurants, we recommend choosing those that serve Montenegrin cuisine and where locals eat.

As a rule, such establishments are located away from the beaches. Don’t rush to order several dishes at once - not every person is able to cope with the huge portions that are served in national restaurants.

Catering establishments along the embankment are usually designed for tourists. Prices here are higher and portions are smaller.

What can you offer your child from Montenegrin cuisine? Almost everything: salads, soups, meat, fish, vegetables. All this is prepared without excess fat and spices, and therefore is suitable for baby food. In addition, fish soup made from local fish or duvech, similar to pilaf, are simply very tasty.

In addition to restaurants serving national cuisine, Italian restaurants and pizzerias are common in Montenegro.

If you plan to cook yourself, you can buy the necessary products in supermarkets, small shops, vegetable and butcher shops, and markets. The cheapest vegetables and fruits are usually sold in supermarkets and street stalls.

Transport

Public transport in Montenegro may not be needed if you dream of spending your entire vacation by the sea. But as soon as you want to go on an excursion, you need to stand on the side of the road, wait for the bus, wave your hand and hit the road.

The lack of stops and clear schedules is a feature of Montenegrin buses. Equipped stops with traffic schedules are available only in large cities.

You should not rely on the schedule, since buses are often late, but you need to keep in mind that transport in Montenegro rarely runs.

The interval on most routes is 1 hour. Only in Budva buses run every 15-20 minutes.

The fare depends on the distance. Travel within the city and nearby suburbs costs 1-2.5 euros. There are no discounts on tickets for children in Montenegro.

Sometimes it makes sense to take a taxi. Licensed taxis are equipped with meters; payment is charged for landing (0.50-2 euros) and for each kilometer of travel (0.80-1 euro). Private taxi drivers set their own price, which can and should be negotiated.

The most convenient way to get around Montenegro is by car. It eliminates the problem of long waits at stops, transfers on the way to mountainous areas, and tiring travel without air conditioning.

Cars can be rented at the airport and major tourist centers. The country has no problems with gas stations, parking, or compliance with traffic rules. But you need to take into account that special caution is required on mountain roads.

The resorts of the Budva Riviera are perfect for holidays with children in Montenegro. Since these resorts are famous for their sandy beaches and warm sea. I can recommend to you the resorts Becici and Rafailovici. These are two small villages with well-developed infrastructure. There is very picturesque nature and well-groomed beaches with convenient access to the sea. The Becici resort was even awarded the title of the best resort in Europe. There are also very good beaches in the resort of Przno, the mountainous terrain of this area and dense vegetation reliably protect them from the wind, so the sea there is always warm and calm without waves. Holidays there are calm and measured, there are no noisy parties or crowds of tourists, so it is quite suitable for traveling with children. Another resort, with an excellent location just 6 km from Budva (center) and 28 km from the airport, is Milocer. There is also very beautiful nature and good beaches, and the location not far from Budva makes it possible to visit its entertainment places and excursions, spending the holiday itself away from the noise, bustle and main crowd of tourists. Holidays in the resort of Sveti Stefan are very attractive from the point of view of entertainment. Due to the special geographical location of the island, excursions from here are possible to anywhere in Montenegro. From there you can go with the whole family on a boat trip on a yacht. The beaches here are small pebbles, which is also good for families with children, and the sea is always warm and calm. The resort of Petrovac seems simply created for a relaxing family holiday. It is located 17 km from Budva and is surrounded by beautiful olive groves. Despite the fact that there are quite a lot of entertainment venues there, they all close no later than zero o’clock, after which you can safely put the children to bed. True, this resort has only two beaches, the main one and Lucice. On the main beach, children will not be able to splash around near the shore, since there the sea suddenly becomes deep, but on Lucice beach they will be able to frolic as much as they like for their own pleasure. The town of Sutomore is famous for its well-groomed sandy beaches; this resort is located between Bar and Petrovac. The local sand has a special mineral composition that has healing properties. The beaches have all the water activities such as catamarans, parachutes, banana boats, etc. Another reason to choose this resort is the relatively low cost of the holiday. This resort is chosen by those who want to get a quality holiday at a reasonable price. And the last resort on the Budva Riviera suitable for families with children is Bar. There is a very nice sandy and pebble beach with reddish sand and many coves with calm water.

Summer time is that blessed time when parents begin their vacation, children have long-awaited vacations and, finally, the whole family can get together and have a wonderful rest.

Montenegro is one of the most popular holiday destinations for young travelers. Its wonderful climate, ideal ecology, diverse nature and established infrastructure provide ideal conditions for an unforgettable pastime that will be appreciated by everyone, young and old.

What should you pay attention to when choosing a resort?

Montenegrins treat children with special care and love, no matter their own or strangers. And they try to do everything to make them feel good and comfortable. Therefore, you can safely go here with your child without worrying, for example, that the owners will not want to rent out the property, or that someone will look at you askance if your child suddenly becomes capricious in a crowded place. Friendly families with fathers and mothers, several children, as well as grandfathers and grandmothers are a completely familiar sight for Montenegro.

However, you need to know that not all cities are suitable for a family outing. Despite the fact that almost all of them have everything necessary to welcome children, some resorts have certain specific features that run counter to the interests of the children.

So, Budva is “tailored” for young people; it is always very crowded and noisy there. Especially in the evenings, when the lights of discos and nightclubs come on. Herceg Novi has a fabulous atmosphere of ancient castles, but in this city, due to the huge influx of people, children must be supervised every minute, which, you see, is not entirely convenient. Kotor has a national park full of various plants and animals. But the entrance to the water is difficult; the shore here is rocky, falling steeply into the sea.

In this article, we have compiled a list of the best Montenegrin resorts that boast a smooth descent into the water, spacious sandy and small pebble areas, comfortable accommodation and entertainment on site or outside the hotel complexes.

Top 5 resorts for children

Sveti Stefan Island

Once a military fort, the island has over time become a fashionable tourist destination, earning the prestigious international Golden Apple award, given only to the world's most select resorts. A vacation on it cannot be called budgetary, but the hotel complexes will delight parents with the services of nannies, balanced baby food and cribs in the rooms.

For older schoolchildren, snorkeling, diving and boat trips on yachts will be a good bonus.

As for the beach itself, it is a mixture of sand and pebbles of a beautiful pink hue.

Petrovac

This compact town, located 17 km. from busy Budva, surrounded on all sides by olive groves and coniferous forests, which makes it a real abode of peace and comfort at the height of the tourist season.

The best beach is Lucice with a wide strip and an abundance of greenery, creating a pleasant shade on a hot day.

There are no attractions or playgrounds here, but in the summer the city hosts many festivals aimed at spectators of all ages. The Palace Hotel regularly hosts performances with clowns, acrobats and mimes.

Becici

Great for kids of all ages. But if you are going on vacation with your baby, it is better to stay away from entertainment venues. For small guests, hotels offer a wide range of services. For example, a special restaurant menu, a nanny and qualified medical staff.

Igalo

If you want to get the maximum healing effect from staying by the sea, we recommend taking a closer look at the satellite town of Herceg Novi, Igalo. This is a kind of natural inhaler with the highest concentration of ozone in Europe, which has a beneficial effect on the respiratory system of you and your child.

The dense planting of palm trees, cypresses and magnolias gives this resort a special appeal.

Chan

Both schoolchildren and toddlers feel great in this seaside city. The depth is small and increases very smoothly, so parents are confident that nothing will happen to their child.

In the village of Chan there is the famous international children's center "Pearl Coast", where several hundred children rest every summer

The air, saturated with the smell of iodine, the aromas of eucalyptus and pine trees, calms the nervous system, strengthens the immune system and gives a boost of vigor, so necessary for a growing body.

In addition to the resorts we have listed, caring parents also give preference to Velikaya Beach in Ulcinjand the tiny but cozy village of Dobra Voda, which has been attracting tourists since the 50s.
