Today this architectural monument is visited by many residents and guests of the capital. There is not a single person who would not be delighted by the beauty of the amazing building, which is a symbol of the Orthodox faith.

The central temple of Orthodoxy in Russia is the Church in honor of Christ the Savior. The current temple has risen from the past. In the 19th century, it was erected in memory of the fallen Russian soldiers, who with their feats proved their love for the Fatherland and commitment to their faith. The names of Russian officers who gave their lives in the War of 1812 were imprinted on the walls of the church. However, in 1931 the temple was destroyed. Work on its reconstruction began only at the end of the twentieth century. The Church, like our Savior Jesus Christ, suffered a series of humiliations when he was blasted to pieces. It took a year and a half to clear out the wreckage, planning to build the House of Soviets. As a result, the Moscow swimming pool was built on the site of the pit in 1958.

Orthodox Cultural Center

The main temple of Orthodox Russia has risen! Today it amazes visitors with its splendor. Shining in its grandeur, the temple reminds us of the Divine world and that any evil is not eternal. The new temple was built according to the surviving drawings of the first. In projection, the building is an equilateral cross. Style - Russian-Byzantine.

The modern temple combines three parts. At the top is the main temple. Below is the Church of the Transfiguration. The third part is the stylobate, which includes: the hall of the Church of Christ the Savior, museum chambers and a room intended for the Church Council. There are also rooms for meals and various types of service rooms.

Purpose of the hall

Most visitors and residents of the capital consider it a must to visit this famous religious building. Particularly noteworthy is the church hall, whose purpose is spiritual and secular meetings that fall under the permission of the Patriarch. Famous artists, orchestras, choirs and ensembles had the honor to perform here. Children are frequent guests here, who come to various festivals and the Christmas tree.

The capacity of the hall of the church cathedrals of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior is designed for one thousand two hundred and fifty people. Various concerts and festivals of classical and sacred music, children's parties and church conventions are held here. The splendor of the design and amenities, combined with excellent technology, make this room prestigious for performances by artists and ensembles of the highest level. It is decorated with frescoes and the style is fully consistent with the Orthodox tradition. The well-thought-out church cathedrals of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior make it very convenient to be located in any part of it.

Entering the hall of the church cathedrals of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, attention will focus on its center, where Pentecost is depicted, an event from the New Testament. This is the day when the apostles, filled with the Holy Spirit, went to bring the Gospel to the world. On the sides there are mosaics of the earthly and heavenly cities, and four columns are decorated with the faces of saints, Russian soldiers and prophets.

In addition to the hall itself, its foyer deserves special attention. It is also a superbly decorated room with an amazing winter garden, sculptures, waterfalls and rare plants. The Royal Hall of the Church Cathedrals of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, the photo of which is located above, is one of the cultural centers of the capital.

The temple is located in the city center, near the Kropotkinskaya station. majestically rise above this area of Moscow, rushing their tops into the sky. It seems that they want to call upon the soul of every person passing by to respond to the call of the Creator of Earth and Heaven. Entering the majestic building, you feel yourself before the throne of God himself. Having attended a church service at least once, your soul will again and again be drawn to everything bright and beautiful.

My dear friend, Timofey Kondratyevich, invited me yesterday to the opening of the Sofia festival. The festival takes place in the hall of church cathedrals, located in the basement of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. I went to respect my friend, and it was simply very interesting to visit this informal place. Immediately here a question arises from me, a neophyte, about the appropriateness of such entertainment events in the immediate vicinity of a holy place. I can say that as a result of the visit I came to the conclusion that we need to be simpler here, and there is a significant amount of pharisaism in condemning such a possibility. In the basement on the other side there is an exhibition hall, which somehow does not raise any special questions. The main thing is that the format of the event matches the format of the location.
I can say that folk music and songs sound great in this beautiful hall. Last year, this festival of small towns opened in the Kremlin Palace of Congresses, which smelled of dull officialdom. Here, the performance of amateur artists, the gorgeous orchestra of folk instruments, and the bass Vladimir Motorin himself were heard in a completely different way.

The hall itself has an interesting open architecture and has no walls; it is surrounded by enfilades on top, one of which I took this photo from. In addition to the central parterre, there are three more wings of the amphitheater-balcony. The hall is decorated with columns, somewhere like church ones, where not only saints are depicted, but those holding worldly power.. On the columns, Tsar Mikhail and his son Alexei Mikhalovich, Alexander 1-2-3, and of course, Nicholas II were honored to be depicted.
I listened to the performance of the artists, the famous bass, and the orchestra with great pleasure. There was also joy for a friend who was sincerely involved in this event and the overall impression.
I must say that, as in a restaurant, in addition to the quality of the food, the memory of the visit very much depends on the presentation, interior, location and even the view from the window. So here, among these walls, folk music sounded wonderful. The performers' faces glowed, the acoustics were good, especially for voice singing. Vladimir Motorin himself was ill that day and therefore cocked a couple of times, but could not refuse to participate in this event that was significant to him.

here you can see the stage and backstage with enfilades.

Timofey Kondratievich dragged me to a banquet after the event. While he was being nice to the organizers, and I was pretending to be the people and the army next to him, the participants and sponsors of the event took out the entire buffet in five minutes :)) As a result, I only got pies and one meatball with potatoes..

These are the enlightened pies :))
And there were also green spaces around the hall with some birds of paradise... Adams and Eves are prohibited from entering!

Story

The Cathedral of Christ the Savior, which exists today, is an inaccurate copy of the 19th century cathedral, destroyed in 1931. The first cathedral began to be built back in 1817 according to the design of Karl Witberg, on the Sparrow Hills. However, in 1837, construction was stopped due to the unreliability of the soil, which suddenly appeared. Witberg was exiled. It was decided to move the construction site to Volkhonka, and another architect, Konstantin Ton, was chosen to implement the project. Construction of the temple lasted 12 years, and another 20 years were spent on interior decoration. It was completely finished in 1883.

In its original form, the temple existed until 1931. Until the Soviet government, at its next meeting, decided to demolish the building and build the Palace of Soviets in its place.

It was decided to recreate it again in 1988. The initiator was a public group of believers who created a petition - it was signed by hundreds of thousands of people. Many donated money for restoration. Construction of the new cathedral began in 1990 and lasted until 1999.

The Hall of Church Cathedrals was opened in 2000, and is now considered one of the best concert halls in Moscow.
