A bit of history

In the 14-16 centuries, there was a monastery here, which arose as a dedication to the first Roman emperor Constantine the Great, who converted to Christianity, as well as to his mother, Empress Elena, who made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, Palestine and found, according to legend, the Holy Cross. In 1908, the first holiday home in Bulgaria appeared on this site from the spontaneous buildings of wealthy locals who loved to relax here in the summer. In 2008, this oldest seaside resort in the country celebrated its 100th anniversary.

A reminder of the monastery now is a small chapel, over time, half gone into the ground.

Town on the map:

The settlement was founded in 1908 and served as a small balneological resort. The location and name of the village is due to the fact that once in the 18th century there was a monastery of Christian saints Constantine and Helena. To date, nothing remains of the monastery, except for the chapel, which is almost completely in half in the ground and a water source located at its foot.

Until 1993, the resort village was called "Friendship", and it received its active tourist development only from the middle of the last century.

Today, St. Constantine and Helena is a balneological resort, distinguished by healing mineral waters, as well as a town full of beautiful romantic landscapes.

The beaches in St. Constantine and Elena differ from the beaches of other Bulgarian resorts in the gray color of the sand, this is due to the presence of quartz in it. The coastal zone of the resort is narrow and is characterized by sinuosity, many bays and rocky capes. Due to the location of the village on a plateau with a steep coast, the slopes to its beaches are equipped with stairs. The best beaches of the resort are located in its northern part.

It is useful to know that most of the beaches of St. Constantine and Elena are municipal, and therefore tourists will only have to pay for the rental of sun loungers and umbrellas. The seabed of the coastal zone of the resort is gentle, which is very convenient for children's swimming. And the most suitable beach for families with children is located on both sides of the Sirius Beach Hotel.
